Signals Analysis SoftwareVirtual devices (VD) are well defined software modules for use in the communications intelligence and speech technology fields. Morcom offers various VD modules for different applications. These modules can be purchased by system integrators and used with their own software. Complete and user defined solutions can be built by connecting different VD’s to a network. VD’s do not have any kind of MMI or GUI, they just perform the desired processing function. Clients can be easily programmed by using the well documented client API’s for C++ and Java that are supplied with the VD.

VD Emitter Detector
This module detects emitters and activities in an input signal. This device can be used in conjunction with a downstream “Transmission Detector” for the automatic detection of transmissions. The VD processes successive power density spectra at its input and emitters are detected in the frequency domain. Once they are detected their behavior is described in the activities list.

VD Transmission Detector
The VD “Transmission Detector” detects transmissions within an input signal consisting of activities which were produced by emitters. The input signal is generated from the VD “Emitter Detector”. For each transmission the time/frequency range will be identified. The VD’s “Emitter Detector” and “Transmission Detector” are used in automatic acquisition systems for instruction of narrow band receivers

VD Modulation Classifier
This module is used for automatic modulation type recognition. Digitized IF signals are processed and the results are output as the result parameters. The “Modulation Classifier” VD contains the following sub-classifiers:

  • Analog Modulation Classifier
  • Digital Modulation Classifier
  • Speech Classifier

The different sub-classifiers and modules are connected and controlled by a decision tree. The results are displayed after completion of the classification process.

VD Demodulation Decoder (DD300)
The decoder demodulates and decodes numerous standard methods from the HF, VHF, and UHF bands. The decoded message is available as an output (Decoded Text). Some of the modulation schemes that can be decoded are: ACARS, ARQ (various types), ASCII, BAUDOT, CCIR1, CCIR2, CODAN, DTMF, EIA, EPIRB, FEC (various types), GMDSS, GTOR, INMARSAT C, MIL-188-110-39, MIL-188-141, MPT, PACTOR (I & II), PICCOLO, STANAG, ZVEI (various types).
