DHS Awards $153K in Phase 1 Funding to Morcom to Develop Maritime Object Tracking Technology

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Morcom International has been awarded Phase 1 funding from Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP).    Morcom, together with our partner Elman will work with the U.S Coast Guard to develop a new, more reliable system to track suspicious objects in bodies of water. The new device will be able to track objects floating objects at sea utilizing a Global Navigation Satellite System receiver and multi-link    technologies.

This new, buoy-like device will feature several of the technologies that DHS requires for maritime tracking. One of these technologies is the Automatic    Identification System (AIS). The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is an automatic tracking system that utilizes transponders on ships and is used    by vessel traffic services (VTS).

With the Phase 1 funding, Morcom International will examine mechanics and electronics to fulfill USGC airdropping requirements. Morcom specializes in designing critical communications and weather information solutions.
